We make fixtures for all the major brand of testers (Agilent, Genrad, Teradyne, etc...).
In addition to in-circuit testing, functional testing is widely used in the industry to verify electronic cards. This is why Rematek has always paid a special attention to the specific requirements of functional testing. Our dedicated engineering staff is prepared to handle all of your mechanical, electrical and software requirements.
Rematek can proceed to the assembly and integration of automated functional test stations according to customer specifications. If needed, the Rematek engineering department can participate in the design process of the system.
Such projects often require the manufacturing of custom parts. Since Rematek owns a machining division offering all necessary services, it simplifies and centralizes your purchasing process.
Board stress has become a major concern for most PCB manufacturers, with the introduction of larger surface mount components, higher density PCBs, and more brittle solders. Board stress can be predicted by using sophisticated software tools and real strain measurements can be achieved by using strain gages. At Rematek, we have developed both techniques to better prevent PCB damages under test.

Fast and efficient testing of LED in both functional and in-circuit test fixtures
LED testers are used to measure hue (color) and intensity of a LED. They are available in a variety of models with some limited to a specific task such as detecting a particular color or checking if a LED is on or off. The LED light characteristics are analyzed by a sensor and the results are returned as a voltage that can then be software-interpreted (or not) to get the light intensity, color, correlated colour temperature and other useful information.
LED testers can be used in both functional and in-circuit test fixtures. In the case of ICT fixtures, LED to be tested are usually soldered to a PCB. Fiber-optic probes are placed near the LEDs to test and connected to LED sensors. The sensors are wired to the fixture's base so that the measurement results can be read through the tester.
LED sensors in an in-circuit test fixture
For functional fixtures, LED to test can also be on the final product enclosure for "as used" functional testing. Some "user-friendly" LED testing solutions are available for customers who don't want to manually interpret the voltage results or develop software for it. The company Feasa, for example, offers a solution with an USB interface and a software to read the results on a personal computer.
Rematek offer several brands of LED analyzer such as Optomistic, Feasa and FINN Test Electronics (Test Coach).
The Feasa Analyser is an innovative solution for testing multiple LEDs simultaneously for color and brightness. There are two models: Feasa-I (ICT) and Feasa-F (Functional). These can be ordered in 3, 5, 10 and 20 channel configurations.

When choosing which model is most suitable for your application there are a number of issues to consider. In this regard the choice of interface is very important.
Interfaces | Feasa I | Feasa F |
---|---|---|
USB | No | Yes |
RS232 | Yes | Yes |
20 pin port - Frequency Out | Yes | No |
20 pin port - Synchronous Out | Yes | No |
Daisy chain | No | Yes |
External trigger | Yes | No |
Feasa is also offering the Feasa LEGEND; a ready-to-use solution with USB and RS232 interface. The Feasa LEGEND provides an easy to use Graphical User Interface (GUI) to automatically learn and store pass/fail criteria for up to 32 different versions of boards reducing the complexity and development time of test programs.
The Feasa LEGEND systems consists of two component parts, a hub and a LED analyzer. The hub can be mounted in the test station or in the test fixture and can control up to eight LED analyzers. Each LED analyzer can test up to 20 LEDs and a fully populated hub can test up to 160 LEDs. Hubs may be added together to test a larger number of LEDs.
This is a great product to use with multiple LED applications.

FINN Test Electronics family of products have the particularity of not making use of any optical cables. Because the sensors are so small, they can be easily mounted in the fixture near the LEDs to test.

Optomistic Universal LightProbes offer a unique 2-part solution that addresses almost every LED test requirement you may have.
You start by choosing a pre-programmed sensor for the type of test and output you require, then, combine it with an interchangeable fiber-optic probe to further customize the test for mechanical requirements and constraints. Output can be analog, digital (to test a single color with a one-bit PASS/FAIL test output) or serial digital/USB interface (for a direct connection to a PC USB port).
Optomistic Universal LightProbes
You start by choosing a sensor for the type of test and output you require:
Sensor models | Descriptions |
---|---|
Penta | Color binning, intensity test and an analog output. |
Spectra | Assign your own color bins, intensity test and analog output. |
Spectra USB | Test of color wavelength and intensity as a serial digital output. |
Unicolor | Single color, intensity test and an analog output. |
Unicolor Digital | Single color only test, with a digital output. |
Blinx Digital | Fast on/off status test of blinking or stable LEDs. |
Ultra High Sensitivity | Fast on/off status test of extremely dim LEDs. |

Examples of technological advances in Rematek fixtures
On time delivery of quality test fixtures is what has made Rematek successful throughout the years. To achieve this success, Rematek has developed a unique in-house process that is almost 100% automated. This process allows rapid manufacturing of quality test fixtures at a lower cost. The usual delay to manufacture test fixtures is five working days.
Rematek engineers know how to design a good quality product that will meet customer requirements while respecting the budget and deadlines.
Complex fixtures are designed using a 3D CAD program. This allows Rematek to send CAD files to the customer for a virtual showing of all the parts of the product, how they interface together and how the unit under test will fit into it. The customer can therefore inspect the product from every angle, simulate its operations and ask for modifications or additions while it is still a computer file rather than do it on the actual product; saving time, money and avoiding misunderstandings.
3D drawing versus the final product
For simpler or lower budget fixtures, Rematek generally designs using in-house developed software: DrillCAD. This software has been specifically developed for the electronic test industry and allows rapid 2D designs of a test fixture on a tight budget, while keeping the design quality. The customer is kept informed throughout the entire project to ensure that the solution developed meets all of his/her requirements. CAD files of the fixture can be sent to the customer for examination (a DrillCAD viewer is provided).
DrillCAD also has the ability to quickly produce (48 hours following the receipt of files) board stress analysis (FEA) reports. This predesign step is optional, but it is inexpensive and allows Rematek to determine if the planned position of the probes and pressure fingers is "100% safe"; i.e. the pressure exerted by both items on the PCB will not damage it. Board stress analysis can save time, money and prevent problems that are much more difficult to resolve once the manufacturing of the test fixture has begun and/or the PCB design finalized. Rematek has many years of experience in manufacturing test fixtures. Its production is well organized, every step of the manufacturing process is done with attention to detail and the whole operation is overseen by the production manager and engineer assigned to the project. The real-time monitoring of the production via an ERP software ensures that the budget and time allocated to the project are met.
Test fixture wiring is done with computer assisted semi-automatic wire wrap machines. Once the wiring is completed, the fixture is brought to a test station to validate the work done. This ensures a 100% error-free fixture wiring, with a confirmation report.
The CNC drilling machines used to manufacture the PCB support plate are extremely precise, with a positioning accuracy of 0.007" and drill bits that can have a diameter as small as 0.010". From such accuracy, results a base plate with a minimum of material removed around the PCB components to ensures that the PCB is better supported and does not break under vacuum.

Custom built test solutions for any products requiring functional testing
In addition or as a replacement to in-circuit testing, functional testing is widely used in the electronic test industry. In most cases, functional tests imply the manufacturing of an electro/mechanical solution to interface the product to test with the measurement equipment. But in the simplest cases, the built solution can take the form of a strictly mechanical standalone product for "as used" functional testing (no measurement is performed).
From simple standalone mechanical fixtures to more complex ones interfacing with test equipment and software, Rematek manufactures innovative and reliable custom test solutions who meet customer requirements. Rematek also sells measurement equipment such as LED analyzers and audio sensing devices for microphones and speakers.
